BOOKKEEPER (PART-TIME)
The BOOKKEEPER will be responsible, under the direction of the TISA Executive Vice-President or designee, for assisting the TISA Administration to accurately maintain the institution’s financial books, provide, and analyze financial reports and ensure compliance.
Job Type: Part-Time (up to 10 hours per week) – DFW resident preferred, but will consider other applicants
Salary: $25.00 per hour
Reports to: TISA Executive Vice-President or designee

- Tracking daily financial transactions and ensuring that transactions are correctly recorded
- Assisting in financial activities such as running payroll
- Collecting monthly statements and reports from various departments and providing them to the CPA firm
- Advising management on monthly money transfers and ensuring completion of the transfers
- Advising the CPA firm about posting and allocating transactions based on the statements, reports, and transfers and with journal entries, monthly reconciliation, payroll reporting and year end tasks as required
- Assisting the CPA firm with the annual 990 form and filing, and TISA management in the review process
- Ensuring that tasks are completed, and deadlines are met according to the TISA financial operations calendar
- Maintaining records of all financial transactions
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local filing reporting and payment requirements for organization, payroll, unemployment, and health benefits
- Ensuring adherence to internal control policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all accrediting body financial requirements
- Assisting in the development of TISA’s annual budget
- Monitoring the budget monthly for variances from the projected budget
- Summarizing and preparing YTD budget reports for quarterly and annual board meeting
- Summarizing and preparing other financial reports as required
- Assisting with audits by independent, external firms
Bookkeeping Skills:
- Accounting knowledge with solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
- Basic knowledge of industry benchmarks in accounting best practices
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in cloud-based accounting platforms and spreadsheets
- Confidentiality
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to calculate and analyze financial information from different sources
- Strong research skills
- Excellent communication skills
